This gentleman came to TraVek because he wanted to do a rather extensive update to his home. Included in that remodel was filling in the sunken living room to make the space flow, removing walls that broke down the kitchen and living area into too many small rooms, reconfiguring the kitchen to allow better work flow, adding a butler's pantry, and putting the same flooring throughout. There are some Before/After photos here to show what a huge change this was. It's definitely a very inviting space for entertaining guests in the home now. These under cabinet microwaves have become very popular over the past five years. It's a perfect way to hide it in a cabinet so that the space above the oven can be more open and sleek. Besides that, reaching down and lifting out is a safer way to handle hot foods than reaching up high to get them.

There was a peninsula that closed in the kitchen from this side at the end of the sink countertop. That made for a really small kitchen that is now open and part of the living space.

In this picture you can see the beam across the kitchen ceiling. That was once where the wall of the kitchen ended. It was separated from the living space with a wall and then a peninsula on the end of the kitchen. There was no island, just a very small kitchen with a poor work flow. Notice the handy washing sink on the island. How handy is that for food prep!
